Determining Your Wedding Ring Value
Once you have decided to sell your wedding ring, you will likely have several questions: “What is the value of my diamond ring”, “Where is the best place to sell my wedding ring?”, “Who is the most reputable wedding ring buyer?”. Our team at Diamond Buyers understands that it can be an emotional process and we have built our business primarily through word-of-mouth referrals by being transparent and easy to work with. Our GIA Graduate Gemologists and expert diamond and jewelry buyers will walk you through the factors that determine the true, intrinsic valuation of your diamond ring. The value of your wedding ring is determined by the color, cut, clarity and carat weight of the diamond, in addition to the type of metal the stone is set in. Certain high-end designer brands may also add a sizable premium. During our in-person evaluation, we can accurately assess your jewelry’s value whether or not you have documentation. However, the following documents can often be helpful:
Laboratory Report: For diamond grading, the two most widely trusted laboratories are the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the American Gem Society (AGS). If your diamond already has a report from one of these labs, be sure to provide this information. While other laboratories may not be as accurate, they may still help us in our preliminary evaluation.
Third Party Appraisal. Jewelry appraisals are best used for insurance purposes. In other words, the purpose of an appraisal is to thoroughly describe your jewelry and list an estimated retail replacement value at which your wedding ring can be insured. This value is typically heavily inflated and has no relation to the wholesale market value or the liquidity of your wedding ring. That said, a reputable, knowledgeable appraiser will be able to estimate the weights and quality of your wedding ring or fine jewelry.
Evaluation by our Diamond Buyers team. We are also GIA-trained and can provide you with a reputable and accurate assessment of your wedding ring. We have the ability to evaluate your wedding ring based on the strictest gemological standards and make you a fair offer accordingly. The first step is telling us as much as you can about your wedding ring.
